This host-based utility is used to accelerate the compression of existing uncompressed files. Existing storage data can be selected using the Compression Accelerator to be automatically compressed via the STN-6000p Series.

The Revert host-based utility is used in cases where it is necessary to decompress files previously compressed by the Storwize appliance, without using the actual STN. This could happen, for example, when a file in its compressed form, is sent to another data center (remote site) that does not have the STN-6000p Series installed.
