Real-time Data Compression without Performance Degradation

Storwize began as a private company funded by Bessemer Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, Tenaya Capital, Tamares Group, and Tokyo Electron Device Ltd. with headquarters in Newton, Massachusetts and R&D in Tel Aviv, Israel. On July 29, 2010, IBM acquired Storwize and the acquisition was completed on August 26, 2010. This acquisition is designed to strengthen our support and service for our existing customers, as well as greatly expand the IBM Storwize channels of distribution.

IBM is the world leader in delivering solutions and services that address IT challenges. Under IBM, IBM Storwize customers will have access to IBM's world class service and support and be able to continue to invest in our product and technology. IBM Storwize will continue to sell and deploy its real-time data compression appliances and support CIFS and NFS protocols. Additionally, the IBM Storwize product will continue to evolve to support additional storage systems and additional protocols.

IBM Storwize provides online storage optimization through real-time data compression, delivering dramatic cost reduction without performance degradation. IBM Storwize appliances are based on the IBM Storwize's Random Access Compression Engine (RACE) and transparently compress primary storage without changes in performance, storage, applications, networks, or processes.

IBM Storwize appliances deliver real-time, random access, deterministic, and lossless data compression, maintaining reliable and consistent performance and data integrity. IBM Storwize helps slow the growth of storage acquisition and related storage lifecycle costs, including reducing the amount of storage to be managed, powered and cooled.
